My class yesterday at Scrappers Cove

Wow what a SOLD OUT class yesterday I had at Scrappers Cove . We had 2 tables set up and I have to say "ALL" the ladies were so happy with their book.

It was nice to hear when I asked "let me see your books" some said we don't want to show you as we made changes. I love to hear that and always express at the classes you do not need to make your items exactly like mine. My items are to show you an example, if you want to do changes go ahead because the end project is your creation.

This is the main thing I tell my students who come to my Sketch of the Month. I show you an example of what I did with my sketch and then I show another example of how I change things a little but using the actual sketch. Some people feel you need to make the exact, which is ok, but I want everyone to try and use their imagination also.

Ok so there we 2 main questions during the class yesterday. Here they are:
1: what theme would you like to see next in a book form
2: would you be interested in having at Monthly Rubber Stamp Club like we do the COTM/Sketch of the month

I would like to know what my followers have to say about this. It is also nice to hear what the outside world says. So you don't have to live near where I teach to reply.

Juat want to send out a reminder that seats for this class are going fast. If you want to take it please don't wait till the last minute. Also I have to do a lot of cutting so I want to make sure kits are together and nothing is missing.

Shabby Chic Winter Wonderland White Paper Bag Book

Oh I have to start by letting you all know that this book is jammed pack. There are hidden places to put a note, picture or something special. There are snowmen gathering around, a fireplace burning with a secret compartment, snowflakes falling, penguins dancing, and I think the best is seeing the children sledding on a old fashion sled in the woods and the penguins skating on the pop down Ice Skating Ring, and then the pages with the Victorian Lace (well there is lace on a lot of the pages).

You MUST bring to class red line tape, liquid glue, sharp scissors, hole piercer, exacto knife or any craft knife and a self healing cutting mat. If you don't have these items please arrive early for class so you can purchase them before the class.

Since this is a 5 to 6 hour class you can either bring your lunch or we can order from the local pizzeria. Everything will be pre-cut as I want everyone to complete this class before they leave.

I have heard that, also for this Saturday, if you have an American Express card, you can go to their website and register it, and they will reimburse you up to $20 (I have also heard $25 but I am not sure which is correct) of whatever you spend at local stores...might as well be here, know what I mean?? Check out your American Express Account for details. But I would like to say not all small business's accept A/E due to their high fees

Family Clocks

As promised, here is a clock I made for my sister for the upcoming holidays. The pinecones have a picture of each of her dogs on it. That is her and my BIL in the middle and then a picture of each of their children. I used Prima's Vine Flowers, Claudine Hellmuth Studio Paints by Ranger, Swarvoski Crystals, Peel Aways and assorted RubOns.

Before you ask, yes the clock is an actual working clock

If anyone is interested in giving a Family Clock to someone or even keep for yourself I will be glad to make one for you in the color of your choice. The price is $35.00 for the clock plus shipping. The Prima's will not be the same as what you see, because I use all differnt kind of Prima's.

No 2 clocks are the same.

Stampavie Designs

As I mentioned in a previous post Stampavie from France arrived in the store at Scrappers Cove, http://www.scrapperscove.com/ . Well before they arrived I was given 2 stamps from the owners to create samples. I created them but forgot to take pictures, so yesterday when I was there I did remember to take pictures of my designs and here they are:

When the order arrived in the store, I did receive the nine I told them to hold for me and good thing because both of these images that I used are already sold out.

Now I have some good news about this. On May 21 and 22, for those of you who live in the Metropolitan Area, we will be having our Expo. Of coarse Scrappers Cove will be there and I will be there also in Scrappers Cove's booth doing Demo's with Magnolia's and Stampavie. I am honored to to do this because I was the one who asked the Owner's at Scrappers Cove to bring in both lines when they went to the Summer CHA in 2010 and the Winter CHA that was just held in January 2011. So for those of you who are coming, I will be there doing the Demo's and showing you how I color them with Tim Holtz Distress Inks. I will be there Friday morning only though.

I will send an update as we get closer to the Expo.

This weather is crazy

I am sure many of you are saying the same thing. It doesn't know if it wants to snow, rain, be cold or be warm. Here I have all the windows open and I am ready to turn on the A/C because that is how hot it is in this apartment. Even trying to sleep is a problem, so this morning I got up at 1 AM and started to create. Oh and today I told my one sister that I will be doing family gifts for the upcoming holidays. Her answer was "what ever". Don't you just hate when people say this? I know I hear the teenagers say it all the time, and having them in the house you kinda get use to saying it also. But to me I rather hear "OK" or something else besides "what ever". I guess I'm still old school, but I can tell you if my son said that to me, he wouldn't hear the end of it, but he knows better.

Ok now on to some things I have created but haven't shown yet.

My granddaughter turned 3 in August and I finally was able to scrap her birthday picture and her 1st birthday picture. At least I have her's up to date, now I just need to do her brothers. For her 1st Birthday layout I used Prima Papers and the girl holding the balloons I cut out and created a 3D effect. You can't see by the pictures but it is there.

It is Beautiful outside today

So as I sit here and look out the window and work on the computer I would like to show you a few things I have worked on when I was MIA.

This was one of the items we did for COTM/Sketch of the Month for October. Every month I design

a card and then I make the sketch and then also make a layout. I want to show my students that with my sketches you can use them for both Cards and/or Layouts. Since not everyone makes cards I want to give the option to all, so they can create.

Now this double page as you can see was taken down at the shore in New Jersey, many many years ago. I would say this was taken approx in 1982 or 1983. As I stated on preivious posts I have a lot of pictures to scrap as this one is of my son, who is now married and has children of his own. As the saying goes better late than never.

Holidays really sneeking up and New Class

Boy are the Holidays really sneeking up. Truthfully I like it when I was young the day after Thanksgiving you would see everyone decorating and the stores had night crews that would come in to decorate. Now people are just rushing to fast for me. Yes I understand us artist need to be ahead of time, but someone who lives in the apartment 2 over put up their Christmas window and door decorations the day after Halloween. I understand we had snow earlier than ever but come on people.

Well now on to my class that I will be doing in 4 weeks. I normally don't do any classes in December but I had a few requests so as the saying goes, what my students want I shall do. Look what's coming

I am working on my 2nd Shabby Chic book for a class on September 10 at Scrappers Cove. See the side line for details and time.

Now this is my 2nd Shabby Chic book and I titled it "Colorful Shabby Chic" and the reason why is because I am using My Mind's Eye Stella and Rose papers which are warm but colorful and with the Fall coming soon I feel it is perfect. Again this is a jammed pack book with a lot and believe me when I say there is a lot of Venice Lace, regular lace and Prima's.

This class is limited to only 7 people so if you want to do it or want a kit don't waste time as this class already had people signed up for it.

where have you been???

Well that is what I asked myself when I seen the last post I made was July 2nd. You know the saying, "as you get older time goes faster". Well this is true. Where have my days gone? Again I had some medical issues but being I am a diabetic and have the cancer, I will always have medical issues. Thank God I don't have many with the cancer, but the Diabeties sure is giving me problems. I am on so much medicine and still can't get it under control and I still have the leg problems from last October.

Well with all that I still have managed to create, but the things I am doing are taking time to finish. I haven't shown the card and layout I did for August's Sketch of the Month and I had a class today with a clock that I made. I just fell in love with it when I seen it on someone's blog. I used Kaiser Krafts Papers, ZVA Bling, RubOns, Prima Classics, Prima Bird and Ranger's Paint that just matched perfect. So now I would like to show you the clock which it a close up and one where you can actually see the pinecones. When I take pictures of August Sketch of the Month items I will post them.

Good Morning All

Well at least here it is Morning, lol. Your probably amazed 3 days in a row posting. Well, I told you I was on the creative roll.

Before I begin I want to remind my followers that this Thursday, July 7th is Sketch of the Month. Yes the name has changed because with my sketches, Scrapbookers can also use it for a layout, and you will see in the store a sample of the Layout and Card.

Also the time has changed to 2PM. For now on I will be at the store between the hours of 2PM and I leave at 7PM, so come between those hours and try to call the store ahead of time to let us know if you are coming. This DOES NOT mean you have to pay ahead of time. If you want a kit instead please let Sue or Chris know ahead of time. We are doing this because I live an hour away from the store and we want to make sure I bring enough items for everyone.

Layouts #2

As promised here are more layouts that I have completed.

It feels so good to finally get the pictures on layouts and while I am doing them it is bringing back such wonderful memories. The major task after these are all done is going to be putting them in order because my grandson is 5 years old already and I still haven't done his birth layout yet and my granddaughter I have only done a few pages and she is going to be 3 next month. But, it will get done as I am set to complete it all.

You will also see that my pages do not have journaling or if it does it is very little. What I am doing is writing a page of why the picture was taken, or my memory of that day and putting it behind the layout in the page protector and this way when my son gets all these albums he can just take the paper out and read it and know who is in the pictures.

Hey Bloggers. Sorry I was MIA

I am sure a lot of you get caught up in every day life and forget to update your Blog. Right? Well I sure have. Besides doing my samples for the Expo that was helf the end of April, I also went on a 3 day Crop and it really got me moving to do my Scrapping.

I am on a roll that at the crop alone I completed 47 layouts and I don't know how many since.

I've also had some medical issues that needed to be taken care of. Being a Diabetic and also having Cancer I just can't take any chances. So what I am going to do for the next few days is show you some of the things I have made.

I didn't take pictures of everthing as there is just to many, but I hope you like what you see.

First I want to show you the items I did for the Expo. I used Stampavie Stamps, Magnolias Tilda and Erwin and Outlines new hat stamp. I want to appoligise on the tags that look blurry. I covered them with poly envelopes to protect them when they were on display and they didn't like the camera much.

Now here are some of the layouts I have done.

Before I went to the Crop I decided to put all my pictures together. WOW, didn't know I had as much as I do so this is also why I am in the creative mood.

April Card and Layout Contest Entries

For those who follow me know that at Scrappers Cove, every month they have a Card and a Layout Contest. What it consists of if you buy a kit for only $5.00, the kit has papers, embellishments, ribbons, Ink Pads, sometimes Primas, etc., and we are to create a card or layout using either all or a little of everything they give us. Then after the 15th of the month, they pull a name from all the entries from the people who submitted their project and one from the layout entries and those people each win a $25.00 gift certificate. So really how can you go wrong with this deal. I love it!!

Last Night COTM

Hi Everyone,

Well yesterday sure was a long day for me. First Doctor's Appt (what else is new as this is my life) and then on to Scrappers Cove http://www.scrapperscove.com/ for COTM (Card of the Month). I have to say something to all my followers who come every 1st Thursday of the Month for COTM. Over 2 and half years ago I started this and it was known as "Sketch of the Month". What I do is create a card and then make a sketch of it. Then it is up to the students to create their cards using the sketch. If I should use an image, it is just because I don't want the cards to look blank, but it seems some people have decided not to come because they don't care for the image being used. So I am asking, Please do not hold back from coming to COTM because of an image. Last night I had over 10 different images for the students to choose from. The main purpose of this 6 hour open class is for the sketch so please remember this. You will see for now on that I may be showing the cards without images due to this problem.

So on to last nights card here it is, and I hope there are some out there who like the image, because it can be used for Anniversary Wishes, for a Couple who want to send Birthday Wishes, etc., it is not only a Wedding Image.

Another Project

Hi Everyone,

Well befo0re the project I want to let you know what is going on.

The sun is shinning and yesterday I finally went out in 1 week and the time before that was only to go to the doctor's anyway. For those of you who know me, know that I only go out to go to the doctor's and to teach a class 2 times a month. So yesterday I had to drop my car off at the dealer to get serviced. Now mind you my car will be 5 years old this November and only has 28,000 miles on it. Goes to show you how much I use it. Well would you believe the dealer called this morning to tell me what needed to get fixed on the car and it is going to cost $1,500.00. That is a heck of a lot more than what I get to live on every month. And one thing is I need front and rear breaks. My sister says that really isn't a lot of money but to me it sure is when you only get 1 check a month to live on every month that has to pay for rent, utilities, food, insurance, etc. So enough of this let's get on to the creating.

For the last 4 days I have been rolling up Lace. Yep, you read that right. And a lot of it is the Venise Lace. My friend Lucy says I have enough but really do we ever have enough, especially when we use it in our classes. LOL

This Saturday's afternoon class is what I call a "Book of Secrets". There is still room for sign ups if interested and if anyone is interested in a kit I can make them up but you need to call the store at 732-745-1000 to reserve a seat or kit. Now here are the pictures and I hope you like it.

STAMPAVIA is in the store

YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went to Scrappers Cove today to pick up my NEW Stampavia stamps that the store ordered at CHA in January. I am sooooo happy they are now carrying them. Funny thing is when the designs were released I chose the ones I would like to get, not telling the ladies at the store which ones I wanted. When they returned there was a gift for me from Michelle over at Stamps, Paper, Scissors and Donkey Smiles and there was one of the stamps I had marked that I wanted. Thanks again Michelle {wink}. Then the ladies let me see Stampavia's catalogue and out of all that they ordered 9 were the ones you wanted. So today I got to bring them home and will be working with them this weekend as I plan on doing a class with 2 of them in May.

Now from what I seen from Stampavia's website Scrappers Cove is the only Mortor (brick) store in the Metropolitan Area that is carrying their stamps. So stop by and get your stamps before they are gone (even though they will order more) or you can order online. If you don't see what you are looking for, email them or call, because they may not be online yet. And again if you spend over $50.00 shipping is FREE

Time to share my work of the COTM

Hi Everyone,
Well here it is a rainy Sunday and I feel like the weather. I wasn't going to log on to the computer today as I have a lot of work, creating, to do. But just like in the morning where I automatically make my coffee, I also turn on the computer. So since I am logged on I want to show you some of the things I recently taught and some of my upsoming classes.

First, I realized I never showed you my February COTM (card of the month) so without further writing here it is:

The picture isn't the greatest as the batteries in my camera died and I had to scan it. With the charm it didn't scan good.

Second was March's COTM (card of the month) which we just did this past Thursday. Since all my COTM is me creating a sketch and working with the 1 double sided pattern paper and 2 Bazzil cardstocks the store gives me, what I do when I want to use a rubber stamp is I stamp the image, color it and then make copies. If the students want to then buy the rubber stamp they can do so at the store. And now here is the COTM:

2nd Sneek Peak and Date

Well I got my date for my special class of the Shabby Fairy/Angel Book with Gift Bag and it will take place on Saturday, April 2, 2011.

Good Morning Everyone

Sorry I haven't been posting but I was working on a project that was taking me 2 days just to complete one page. The project has a total of 10 pages and I was really getting into it. You should now see my living room, as there are things all over the place. Wish I had a studio with everything at hand, but since I am in a two and a half room apartment I have to make do.

Let me hear if some of you do as I have to do. As I was working on this project, when I needed to get items, I either had to go in my bedroom or the extremely large closet in the living room. Once I picked out the items for the page, everything got put on the floor near me. You just never know if I was going to use it on another page. Well now that the project is done, I have all this stuff to put away. YIKES, it is a lot and I have to make sure that the items I used are all put together because this project is for a class I am doing in April. So I need it available so this way as people sign up I can make the kits for the class.

Sorry, I can't show pictures of the project yet. The reason is that there is a lot of Scrap Lifting out there and since this class is in April 2011, I can not show pictures till after the class.

Now on to the title of this post. Maggie's, yes those cute Magnolia's. Scrappers Cove http://www.scrapperscove.com/ has received their Spring line so they are available. What do you do

What do you do when your stuck in the house because of Snow and Ice? You create. My creative juices sure are flowing because I did a card and a 2 page layout.

First is the card. I used the leftover papers from February's Card Contest that is held at Scrappers Cove http://www.scrapperscove.com/ every month. Here it is with a close up of the embellishments:

Another Addition to Scrappers Cove - Stampavie

Last year B4 CHA, Michael Trent from NY and I begged the Owners of Scrappers Cove http://www.scrapperscove.com/ to please check out the Magnolia booth of Tilda and Erwin. Well this year they asked again what we would like new in the store and of coarse I jumped to tell them about Stampavie. They are a stamp company from France and I just love their Sarah Kay designs.

January's COTM ~ Card of the Month

Well January is almost over and again we are getting more snow. The snow started so early this year and it looks like there is no end in sight as they are calling for more tomorrow and over the weekend. Well I have no doctor appointments, so I have no where to go. You can guarantee I will be working on a project for a class I am going to do in April. A little hint is, it's Shabby, it's a Book and there is a lot in it. So stay tuned for more hints to be coming.

Now since I already January's COTM on January 6th, I would like to show you the card we made.

The paper is from My Minds Eye the Lost & Found, Bazzil and Ribbon. It was so much fun doing this card because I have to say I work backwards. The whole idea of COTM is I will create a sketch and who ever comes to COTM they will take the sketch and create a card and I will show my sample.

Well after 2 years, I will say the ladies that come create the same exact card as I made and then with the extra paper they make more using the sketch in different ways.

A lot of the ladies said this card is the best so far, but I will let you know a secret. If you look at all my COTM (you can find them by going to the categories and click on COTM), this one is such a simple card. The reason I believe they liked it better was because I didn't use the normal size for a card. (5 1/2 x 4 1/4). This card was taller. I had to make it taller because otherwise I would be cutting a lot of the Eifell Tower off and that I sure didn't want to do.

This I made for a Competition that a store down in South Jersey is having. The theme is 4th of July. Since we have been having so much snow and cold weather this year we are all looking forward to the Spring. I want to say that I DID NOT make the tears bears. Wish I was that good, but on the internet you can find places where they are already made and you can purchase them. Yes I have a lot of embellishments and Prima's. What can I say except that I love working with them

Birthday Layouts

First I want to show you my grandson's layout for his 4th birthday which was in 2009.

This layout I also entered in Scrapper's Coves http://www.scrapperscove.com/ layout contest which they host every month. A little explanation about the contest, for $5.00 you get the kit that they make up, and you have to create a layout using a little or all of everything they give you in the kit.

Yes you can add more items and on this one I added the chipboard letters, Prima's flower vines and Basic Grey's overlays.

This is my granddaughter's second birthday picture which was in 2010.

I entered this is the same contest mentioned above as you can make a one or two pay layout. Their requirement is for one but many make two layouts.

The added items I used on this layout that were not in the kits was laace ribbon, additional Prima Flowers and of coarse her birthday card.

Speaking of the card, I made that card for her and decided to put it on the layout this way when she gets older and has her album it will have her cards in there too.

Well as promised in my previous post, I am starting to Blog again. And wouldn't you believe I have a doctors appt tomorrow and they are calling for more snow starting tomorrow night. Truthfully I am really ready to move to Florida, or a place where it is warm. My knees just can't take this anymore. I laugh at these doctors who tell me to walk more, but they don't have the pain I have nor feel it. I got a cortosone shot in my knee 3 weeks ago and I am just starting to be able to move the knee without pain. I will Blog about this some other time but let me show you the items I have made since my last post.

Scrappers Cove http://www.scrapperscove.com/has started to sell Magnolias since Sunner CHA 2010. This November during their Open House which they have every year I was doing the make n takes using the Magnolias and coloring them with the Distress Inks. Here are a few of what I made.

Open House/Demo Saturday ~ Come in at Scrappers Cove on Saturday October 30 to see Demos being done and Make n Takes. I am sure Scrappers Cove will be sending out a newsletter regarding what is going to be going on at the store on this day, but I will be there do Demo's with Magnolia's aka "Maggies" aka "Tildas" and show you how I color them. Yes I am going to share my secret and a hint is I don't use markers. So I hope to see a lot of you and please feel free to introduce yourself. Would like to put faces with the people I talk to on the internet.

A question was asked last month on if a child can come to the COTM. As long as the child is able to cut with a scissor and follow direction they can come. I don't recommend a child under the age of 10 though.

I usually do the 12 cards of Christmas but this year I have decided to do half the cards but with more detail on them for you to give to that extra special person in your life. Plus we will also be doing a regular size card with tealight tucked on the side so you can give it as a small gift/token to a co-worker, teacher, mail carrier, or someone that you just want to say Happy Holidays to. We will be using Graphic 45 Christmas Past Collection. I am asking that besides your normal class supplies, please bring a craft knife, cutting mat, and Xyron Sticker Maker. If you don't have these I know they are available in the store. As a REMINDER, I am asking that if you want to sign up for this class please don't wait till the last minute because for the last 2 years we have sold out.

Do you believe in Fairies or even Fairy Tales? Well this layout will question you on it. On this layout the Fairies are resting on their toads/mushrooms, and other places. The gnomes are hiding in the cattails and near their house. Come and feel the cattails, they feel real. This layout will have a lot of detail but you will still be able to put either 3 or 4 pictures on it. The choice will be yours on how many mats you want. We will be using also "Flower Soft" on this layout with other embellishments. You will "not" have to do any cutting except for your photo mats and ribbons. Again on this class I ask that you don't wait till the day before to book the class as I have to pre-cut everything with the Silhouette and it takes time.

Where has the time gone and my Sept classes

Here it is Labor Day weekend and the last time I posted was August 19th. Sorry for not making more post, but with up coming classes my brain is releasing the designs I want to do for the classes and the Silhouette is going none stop cutting things out for the classes. So with this I have to remind everyone that if you want to do one of my classes, please sign up early enough so it gives me time to do the cutting with the Silhouette because there is no way I can do the cutting for 10 people the day before the class.

Now another important thing, which some of you may understand and also be in my shoes. It seems my x-husband found my blog which is no big deal, but due to personal things, if any of my designs, class projects, cards, etc., have pictures of my grandchildren on them I will have to cut out their faces. I've hada to protect my son 20 plus years and I have to protect my grandchildren. So please understand and I hope this doesn't make you not follow my blog, look at my art work, or sign up for my classes.

I have 2 classes coming up this month.

One is an Outlines class on the 17th, which you can read details on my side bar. I will have pictures soon to show you.

The other is "The Pumpkin Patch" Layout or Book. Below is a picture of there book cover and one page of the layout. Hi Everyone,

Sunday I would of had a Back to School layout class but there were no sign ups, but one person wanted a kit. Unfortunately I was unable to do the kit because the store requires details instructions and for all who do paper piecing layouts you know that you follow the diagram and the layout to see where pieces go. It's like doing a puzzle. So for now on if anyone wants one of my layouts as a kit I recommend either contacting me directly or telling the store that you understand how paper piecing layouts are done.

Now here are pictures of the layout and I hope you like what you see.

Well I am working on a few more projects, most important is my granddaughters 2nd Birthday card. I want to make it extra special as she is special to me and unfortunately I won't be able to see her for her birthday. Once I complete all the new projects I will post them. In the meantime don't forget about my September Classes which are posted to the right on this blog.

Well good day everyone :)

Hope you all had a nice weekend. Over here I didn't move out of the apartment and I can say I had a lazy weekend because all I did was sleep. But I did finish my Layout of the Month and my layout for my class in September and both are at the store, Scrappers Cove, http://www.scrapperscove.com/ for anyone to go and look at. For those of you who can't get to the store I will share the LOM and a sample of my class layout.

For the LOM we were given 2 sheets of pattern paper, 2 sheets of cardstock and some embellishments and Petaloo flowers. I added the butterfly, Prima flowers, Bling, and Lace . The picture is of my grandchildren last year on Halloween.

Now for the Layout we will be doing in September here is just a sneak peak. I'm not going to show the full 2 pages because of scrap lifting. Sorry. But for those of you who don't do scrapbooking you have your choice of making this on pages which you will then be able to turn into a book.

its getting to that time

If you keep up on my blog and look on the bottom we only have 141 days till Christmas. Yes we are having this hot weather and no one wants to think of it, but when you see the countdown it is reality.

So with this I have a questions to ask and would like you all to let me know by leaving a comment here on this post.

Every year I host the 12 cards of Christmas and I will be scheduling my October classes soon and would like to know if you would be interested in doing it again this year. Also if there is a weekend you won't be able to do it let me know. This will at least give me an idea on what to do, design and pre-cut the items and pick a perfect date. I will not be able to do the weekend of Halloween as I was invited to my sons for that weekend to visit my grandkids.

Please let me know as soon as you can. I am posting this on my blog for the people who I don't have their email address's and want kits.

Also regarding kits, since this class everything will be pre-cut the only thing you will get in the package is pictures. I will not list ink or colors I use for coloring, if any coloring will be needed, as that is your choice to choose the colors you want.

Yippeeeee they arrived

Hi Everyone,

Want to share with you what I received in the mail today. If you look back at my posts I had joined a Blog Candy contest over at Mels Craft Room , and all she asked was that you write on her blog what you are Grateful for. Well she decided to have 2 winners, one was chosen by Random Org and the other her husband chose out of all the entries and that is how I won. If you go to her post dated July 8, 2010 you will see the post. Now this is what I won, not 1 but 2 Magnolia's aka Maggies, which are Tilda with Peony and the Classic Bridal Collection. She also made me this beautiful card.

Now another good thing about this is that Melly said she didn't have any Maggies so of coarse she had to buy some for herself, lol. Her husband isn't going to like me much, hahaha.

Please go visit Melly's blog because let me tell you, you won't regret it. Her works is beautiful, and for those of you who live in the UK maybe you live near her as she goes to a lot of shows and then you will be able to see her work in person.

Monthly Layout for July

Hi Everyone,

Well my monthly layout for Scrapper's Cove was completed and submitted so now I would like to show you all what I did. But, before I do that let me explain a little about what the monthly layout is and who puts it out.

On the 15th of every month Scrapper's Cove releases a layout pack. Now this month in the pack we got 2 sheets of Cardstock, 3 sheets of doublesided pattern paper, ribbon and brads. Now every month the pack can be different. Now what is required is that you must use everything in the pack to create a 1 page layout. Now it doesn't mean you have to use the full sheets, lol, but you have to use a piece of everything. Some people make 2 pages, I know some who made even 3 pages, that's how much you get. Best of all it is only $5.00. Now if you return your completed layout by the 15th of the next month, your name goes in to win a $25.00 gift certificate to be used in the store. Now how good is that. So if you live near the store, or know someone who is going to the store ask them to pick one up for you.

Ok so now about my layout. My friend Lucy had given me a special scrapbook that I was told to use just for my late Pooh-Bear's layouts. So I used this Layout Pack to create another layout of him.

This is the complete layout. I will show you little bits too. Sorry for the glare in the photos.

I was looking for a perfect saying to explain what this dog meant to me. You have to read back about Pooh-Bear and how I got him and how he helped me through so much. Well this is the perfect saying for him.

Now Prima has some beautiful bling out there and whenever new ones come out of coarse I have to get them. I have a nice stash and in it this is what I found so of coarse I used them.

Here he is. He will always be my baby even though he has crossed that bridge. Everyone will take notice of the picture but look closer and you will see the cross with the red rose on it. When ever I would go out, he would jump on my bed and sit there looking out the window waiting for me to get home. When I didn't come home fast enough he would then rest his face on the backboard and fall asleep till I got home.

Last but not least here are Prima flowers, bradsn dog bone charm and a dog dish with bone charm.

Well I hope you all like it as much as I had making it. Can't wait to get the new pack on the 24th when I have my classes. Till I have new stuff to share, you all take care.

Yesterdays Classes

Well yesterday was a nice day at the Cove as I had 2 classes, got to see everyone and a student who became a friend took me out for dinner for making her invitations for her cousins sons 1st birthday that will be coming up in 3 weeks.

My first class was doing this tissue box holder. In the details it said that participants were to pick their own paper, as we wanted them to pick papers that were their colors. I only had 1 sign up for this class but Pat also bought papers as she was going to make another one for her office. Here is the sample I made

I am going to be giving this to a friends mother who is 86 years old because as I was making it she kept saying how much she liked it. So I decided after the class was over I was going to give it to her because she hasn't stopped talking about it. I am now working on a burgundy one as that is my favorite color and I wanted to make one in a solid color and then decorate it.

My second class was to make 3 different cards. They were a Shutter Card, Stairstep Card and a Easel Card. Easel Cards are the big thing now and I have to say they are so easy to make. Here are 2 of the cards we did

Now I have to prepare for 2 big classes I have coming in July. One is using the Just Rite stamps where everyone who signs up for the class will be getting a complete set with wooden base of the Just Rite stamps. A $28.00 value on this stamp. Not bad for a class cost of $30.00, wouldn't you say. And then my other class will be "Fun in the Sun" paper bag book.

And now I want to end by saying "Congratulations Lisa, on your High School Graduation. I Love You", and for all who are out of school for the summer have a safe summer and remember to be careful if you will be swimmin in the Ocean. We already had a few tragic accidents, most recent was a 12 year old girl who got stuck in a current and drowned.

Sneak peak as I sit here

Well I finally finished my class sample for a class I am hosting on June 26, 2010 at Scrapper's Cove http://www.scrapperscove.com/ in Milltown, N.J.

What I decided to make is a full size tissue box holder. Any full size, meaning the long boxes will fit in here. In the class everyone will make the box itself. We are not covering a tissue box, this one is made out of chipboard and very strong. I will also guarantee that this tissue box holder can be displayed in any room or sunroom. Or how about on your work table. Everyone who comes to the class will get to choose their own papers as they will know what colors match their rooms or if giving it as a gift they know the colors the receiver likes.

Yesterdays COTM

Yesterday I gave you a sneak peek of the COTM that I host at Scrapper's Cove in Milltown, NJ every 1st Thursday of the month. Well here is the card. The butterflies are layered 3 times. We had a good turn out, let's see if we can have even more next month.

Now next months Card of the Month is special. Since I will be celebrating 2 years doing this at Scrapper's Cove in Milltown, NJ, everyone who comes to the store for COTM on June 3rd or takes a kit will be getting 2 different 12x12 Bazzil cardstock, 2doublesided pattern paper, 1 complete package of Rub Ons and any embellishments that I use.

You will see a sneek peak on June's COTM as soon as it gets created. I already know what I want to do in my head, but now I need to get it on paper.

Just a reminder that tomorrow is Card of the Month at Scrapper's Cove in Milltown, NJ. Above is just a sneak peak of the card we will be doing.

Now remember you have a choice to do the card at the store or to take home a kit with all supplies, which include 1.5 sheets of pattern paper, 2 sheets of cardstock (different colors) and all embellishments.

I will say with the papers supplied by the owners of the Cove, you can for sure make 3 full cards.

New Year New Life

Hi Everyone

Well it has been a long time since I have written. Sorry so many things happened since my last post. As you know by the last post my beloved Pooh-Bear passed away as he had lymphoma. Well when he died I decided to move out of the apartment where I was. I lived in that apartment because they allowed pets and there was a nice yard to let him run in but that was all. The heat was terrible as I couldnt control it, the electric was the worst as it still had the old glass fuse box and there was only 1 outlet in each room.

So I found a wonderful apartment and moved in on February 1, 2010. I control my own heat, I don't have to worry about the snow because maintance takes care of the property and best of all there is emergency maintance 24/7.

Now with this apartment I am able to set up in the corner of the living a craft area where I have my desk, computer and work table. I was finally able to set up my Sillhoutte and love it.

So with this I want to show you 2 items I made so far, one is a card and the other is the butterfly border I am going to use on a layout once I ink it up. Here they are.

I have gotten more cuts and let me tell you for only 99 cents they are great because you don't have to worry about buying cartridges where there are items you will never use. With the Silhoutte you can use your own Fonts on your computer, you can buy images as low as 99 cents or you can buy discs for it. I made a good decision when I got this.

Well don't forget on March 4, 2010, is card of the month at Scrapper's Cove in Milltown, NJ. I will be there from 1PM till 7PM, so stop in and do the card of the month with us for only $5.00

I am really surprised and have a Happy Thanksgiving

Well tomorrow is Thanksgiving and it will be the first time in 4 years that my son and his family will be celebrating with me, my sister Gen and my sister Fran and her family. I just can't wait to see my son and of coarse my grandchildren.

So today I went and looked at 3 apartments, because as I said when Pooh-Bear died it was time to move. Funny thing is 2 of the apartments I was told were on the 1st floor. NAY. Both were on the second floor, one the steps were so steep I thought I was going to fall down them as they were also very small, like for a childs foot. The second just needed a lot of work and some landlords say they will fix but the landlords I have had never follow through. Now the 3rd is my dream to move there. Best of all it is in an apartment community, 24/7 emergency service, assigned parking, very bright and just everything anyone can ask for. So next week it is to get the paper work from the County and to start with all that. I am looking at a move in date for February 1st now.

Ok now your probably wondering what does the "I am really surprised" have to do on this post. Well I will tell you. I have also been blog hopping today and I am really surprised at how many people in the USA ask people in other countries if they celebrate Thanksgiving. Some of you may find this surprising also. SO I ask, do you know the meaning of Thanksgiving and if so please post your meaning.

November 28th ~ Saturday ~ Time: 10:30AM till 2:30 PM ~ Cost $39.00 ~ Limited Seating for only 5 students ~ Scrapbook a Year ~ In this class we will be putting together a complete scrapbook for a whole year. We will be working with a 6x6 scrapbook and there are 2 page layouts for each month. so when you are completed there will be 24 pages completed! The layouts will be dimensional and you will be able to put anywhere from 3 to 4 pictures on each 2 page layout. This class is great for someone just starting to scrapbook, for someone who would like to five a special gift for the Holidays, for just to keep for yourself! The scrapbook is included in the class but you will be decorating the book to your liking

November 28th ~ Saturday ~ Time: 3PM till 4:30PM ~ Cost: $25.00~ Have you ever wanted to learn how to Heat Emboss? Well I am holding a technique class where I will show you how to use embossing powders, and also how to use different colors on one design. I will also show you how to do Texturizing and dimensional additions to your projects. When you are done with this class, every participant will get their own jar of Powder Keg embossing powder - you will get to choose your own color from the store.

Update on my Beloved Pooh-Bear

The good news. The procedures with my back are coming along and next week starts the 1st procedure of killing the nerves. Anyone who has back problems I really recommend you going to Pain Management and asking about these procedures because the relief I have gotten is Amazing.

The bad news. I lost my beloved Companion and Best Friend on Monday at 11AM. For those of you who know me personally and through the internest know my Pooh-Bear, pictured on the right of this Blog, was my everything. My beloeved husband bought him for me 2 months before he passed away and Pooh-Bear has been there through thick and thin. I noticed he was sleeping a lot but I thought it was just his age getting to him as he would of been 10 on the 24th of this month, but I still had to bring him to the groomers for his hair cut as his hair was getting long and when he came home I was petting him and I noticed 2 large lumps under his chin/neck. They were the size of eggs and he constantly wanted me to rub under there. I wasted no time and called the vet and on Thursday he went and got blood tests, besides the 2 lumps I felt he also has a lump on the back of each leg and they said he also had lumps inside, which of coarse I never felt, and I was told he had 106 fever and that they recommend a biopsy. On Saturday they called with the blood test and told me his kidneys were in great shape but his white cell count was extremely high and his liver was bad and it showed cancer. And to call on Monday for the cost breakdown for the biopsy.

Well all weekend I talked to Pooh-Bear and asked him why he just wouldn't close his eyes and go home to Daddy and Mama on his own. I cried all weekend and of coarse when I would cry he would wake up and lick the tears away.

On Monday I called the Vet and asked why they wanted to do the biospy and the vet that was there said so they can confirm it was Lymphoma. I told the vet at that time I wouldn't put my dog through it that I would just put him down as I would never make him suffer. Now remember I have cancer and I know all to well about sleeping all the time and I would never ever put my dog through chemo just to live a few extra months and in the meantime his kidneys would start to fail.

So Monday, 11AM Pooh-Bear crossed the bridge and went to go with his Daddy and his Mama and I am sure Mama is now making him his eggs. On Sunday a friend from Australia, Angie, sent me something that really made me think and I would like to share it with you all.

Here it is:

If it be that I grow frail and weak
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then you must do what must be done
For this last battle can't be won.

You will be sad, I understand
Don't let grief then stay your hand,
For this day, more than the rest,
Your love and friendship stand the test.

We've had so many happy years,

You would not want me to suffer… so.
When the time comes, please let me go..
Take me where all my needs they'll tend,
But stay with me until the end.
And hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.

I know in time that you will see
It is a kindness you do for me.
Although my tail is last waved,
From pain and suffering I’ve been saved.

Do not grieve that it is you,
Who must decide this thing to do.
We’ve been so close, we two, these years,
Don’t let your heart hold any tears.

I will say I did hold Pooh-Bear till the end as I wouldn't let anyone, not even my sister touch him or hold him till I knew he was no longer in pain.

I ask anyone who owns a dog, please do not make your dogs suffer. I know the decision is a hard one to make, but when a dog starts to loose self control, can't get up on their own, has lumps coming more often, or sleeps for long periods of time, think of your Dogs well being first before yours. 95% of dogs do not go to sleep and never wake up, so it is a decision a responsible owner needs to make.

Just an update to let you all know we still have a few seats (4) available for this Saturdays class at Scrapper's Cove which I will be hosting. Details below and a new picture of one of the items is attached. I can make unlimited kits if you can't make it to the class, you just need to call the store at 732-745-1000 to reserve your kits. Anyone who calls the store by tomorrow, October 9th no later than 2PM to reserve a kit, it will be ready for pick up on Satuday, anyone who calls for a kit after 2PM or Saturday or after the kits will be available for during the week pick up. If you want the kit mailed to you because you can not pick it up please let the gals at the store know so it can be prepared for the mail.

Saturday October 10th from 11:30 till 3:30 we will be making at Scrapper's Cove 12 Cards of Christmas. I will say on the 12 Cards of Christmas the cost is only $25.00 and yes that is all correct. These cards will be different than any other that we have already done as they will have ribbons, charms, Flower Soft and other items on them.

If anyone wants kits they will be available after the class but you must call the store to reserve a kit.

Samples are in the store and on the website at www.scrapperscove.com and one is here.

On the 12 Cards of Christmas there are only 2 samples on the website and in the store at this time there are 7. The one attached is not in the store and others are a surprise because they really are amazing I must say so myself.

Everything is pre-cut so there is no cutting to put these together. You will get full pictures and all the supplies to complete these cards, all you need to do is put them together by looking at the picture, add your greeting inside and they are then ready to be mailed.

Remember to bring glue, double sided tape for this class and scissors. No paper trimmer is needed.

Hi Everyone:

Yes I know I have been missing in action but I am here. Just want to update everyone.

Now tomorrow is COTM (Card of the Month) aka Sketch of the Month, at Scrapper's Cove from 1 to 7PM for only $5.00. Many of you have written to me because you have seen that Lucy will be doing the COTM. Don't get nervous, she is a wonderful friend who stepped in for me because I am having the 2nd procedure done on my back tomorrow and since I will be put under anestesia (? spelling) there is no way I would be able to come to the store. SO I would like you all to show Lucy your support for stepping in for me otherwise it would of had to been cancelled and I know how a lot of you love the COTM. I did the sketch and sample which are at the store and Lucy already has in her hands another sample which I made with the sketch to show you how you can really dress up the card. Now don't forget to bring your supplies because for this class if you use the stores supply there will be an extra charge. This is not a lot to ask, all you need is your paper trimmer and your doublesided tape.

Now for the other annoucement. The date is set, I don't have the price yet, but remember last year when we did the Holiday cards we sold out the first time and had to extend the class. Well it is going to be on Saturday, October 10th from 12:30 till 4:30. Seating is limited again so please reserve your seat early and this year we will be making 12 Cards. You can keep this for yourself or give as a gift, the choice is yours. We will be doing a lot of cutting in this class so please make sure to bring sharp scissors, cutting knife and cutting mat.

July 19th ~ Sunday ~ Time: 2PM to 4PM ~ Location: Scrapper's Cove, Milltown, NJ ~ "Whoo's Loves Whooo" layout ~ COST: $25.00 ~ Come join us as we make this wonderful Owl layout. Those 2 owls sitting in the tree are watching over your favorite photos. There us plenty of room for photos, jounaling and the owl on the right page opens and you can either attach a special token or journal inside him. Seeing the masking behind the owl, gives him a nice wooded effect. We are using My Mind's Eye Paper, Ribbons, Brads, Charms, Masks, and of coarse Flowers. Hope you enjoy the layout and join us this day for creating.

These items match what we did in June. If you didn't join us in June's class you can still come and join us on these creations. The bulletin board is made of pressboard and is very strong. You will also be able to change the papers and ribbons later on if you want, so you will always have it. There is a place to hang 3 sets of keys on this Bulletin Board. The paper portfolio we will make with chipboard and you will be able to always refill it when you run out of paper. The memo pad is included. Everything is included in this class. For this class we will be using BoBunny Papers, Bazzil cardstock, brads, assorted ribbons, primas, chipboard, and stickles. Please make sure to bring to class you paper cutter, sharp scissors, and redline tape (is a must) as I used this on the bulletin board, a ruler.

Been awhile

Hi Everyone,

It's been awhile since I blogged. Been busy but was also sick for a week. I didn't even make it to COTM but Sue at Scrapper's Cove http://www.scrapperscove.com/ did a wonderful job and even created her own Card of the Month with the sketch and let me tell you for a person who is not a cardmaker she did a great job. So this only proves that if you are just starting out or you say your not a cardmaker you can do these Card of the Months.

Well now the reason why I am posting is I just read on Tim Holtz's blog about a Raffle that will be taking place in September. Now you all know that Cancer Research is a big part of my life because of me fighting this Stage 4 Colon Cancer. Share a Card Organization

HI Everyone

I don't know how many of you have read my prior post about this Organization or not, but it is a non profit organization that sends cards and small gifts to people who are teminally ill. I was chosen in May 2009 to be their Feature because of how I am fighting with my Stage 4 Colon Cancer.

Well a few weeks back I got a priority box full of wonderful cards and people sending me Wishes and Luck on my fight and there was even a Mother's Day card in there from a woman in Seattle Washington. Some people sign their names and some people don't.

Well last week I received another envelope full of cards that were just amazing. In this package was this card.

Now isn't this the cutest card you have ever seen? The woman who sent me this is Patty and she lives in Pennsylvania. She wrote that she read I have a blonde cocker spaniel and went out of her way to get this card just for me.

The ladies in this organization are all wonderful and do this from their heart. I know just from the 2 packages I got I smiled a lot and I keep looking back at the cards and re-reading them. SO with this I want to Yell a BIG THANK YOU to everyone at Share A Card Organition. MOM _ Member Of the Month

Yesterday I was chosen as MOM for June which stands for Member of the Month and my friend Linda sent this graphic when she made her post . LOL you've gotta love my BFF from Boston because she thinks of everything. Now when you are a MOM for a month the other members have to send you a gift for the month and I laughed because here is what she wrote and it is so true.

"Hi gals,Well, congrats to TA for being our next MOM. For a gal who has everything, it will be a challenge to find something TA doesn't already have 5 of already. Oh, I forget.....we're talking about TA. She probably can't find 5 of anything in her house LOL!!!!!"

It is so true because how can anyone go from a 6 room house with a full basement, garage and storage, then take everything and put in storage because I couldn't move it all to my parents and then take everything from storage and my parents and move it into a 2 and half room apartment.

But no matter what I still keep creating and that is all that matters. Right??

We won't only be doing the outside of the card but also the inside of the card too! We are using self adhesive felt, Prima & Petaloo flowers, stickles, ribbon, Hero Arts stamps and more to create these great cards. Design Team Layout for Scrapbook Cafe NJ

Here is my 2nd layout for the DT on Scrapbook Cafe NJ which is due June 15th. I like when I get my kits to work on my items and have them in the store in enough time.

Now people thought the pictures were of my grandson but they are of my son when he was 3 years old. He was chosen by a Studio to do a sitting every year so they can use them for advertising and we were able to get the package. He did this for 6 years and each picture is a treasure I will always have. Now I can't wait to do the other pictures.

Now for the rubber stamps there were certain themes that I used because they all represent parts of my sons life. The Angel on the Cloud represents him Mama (Grandmother) who was a very big part of his growing up and we miss her so much. The teddys on the bench is because he loved his teddy stuffed animals, the painter is because as a child till now he loved to draw and doodle, the lad sitting on the rock is because he loves the outdoors and wild life, and last the lad with the skateboard is because he did have his skateboard and then went to skiing and then it was snowboarding.

Today my Nephew Graduates from FDU

Today my nephew graduates from Fairleigh Dickinson University Metropolitan Campus and I am so proud of him. Ever since he started school as a little tot he always said he hated school, but this was a child who was always on the Honor Roll and I, as his Aunt, am proud to say that he completed 4 years at FDU as magna cum laude in Criminal Justice. For those of you who don't know what "magna cum laude" is, it is when a student whose cumulative grade point ratio (CGPR) for 4 years is 3.67 but less than 3.85.

Can you all tell I am a proud Aunt? So I had to make him something special so I purchased BoBunny's Grade book and left off the "e" so it just says "GRAD". I took the pictures that was in my husbands wallet from the time we got married till the time he passed away and I used them for this book, so at least he has part of my husband with him.

Since my husband passed away before he graduated High School my sister will put that picture in here later on and he still didn't get his pictures from College but when he does that will get added too.

Hope you like what I did with it.

Well again hope you enjoyed them and look forward to my next post on the Design Team Layout.

Well as you read my prior post about me making the Treasure Boxes I didn't want to post about this one till I made sure that my BFF in Boston received it as it was made for her brithday. There is also a Tilda rubber stamp on the top. My BFF in Boston is the one who made me the Junque Card for my birthday that was done with bits and pieces and is also in a prior post and I made this so she can keep her bits and pieces in it and at least they will all be in one place.

Another Keepsake Box

For some reason I finally decided to use the asorted shape box I have had laying around here for yers, lol. I don't know what I have been saying them for but now that there are such beautiful flowers out there to work with that are from Prima and other companies I decided now is the time to use them.

Yesterday I taught a class using the dome boxes which was fun and easy to do, and I showed you that I believe last week, well here is another box I did using Magnolia's Tilda Stamp and some papers I have had for years also. I don't know that name of the company that made these papers but the paper feels like leather and has the a wonderful feel to it. While I am at it, if you want to see some beautiful boxes Kirsten who lives in Norway and I have talked to a few times makes the most Georgous Boxes I have ever seen. The only difference between mine and hers is that her boxes are all paper where mine are wood or cardboard and her's are more beautiful :)
